Frequently Asked Questions

  • The laser treatment treats the underlying causes of acne by allowing energy to penetrate deep into the skin with the laser's unique 650-microsecond technology. The treatment is safe, tolerable, and highly effective at reducing sebum production and suppressing inflammation. In addition, it destroys the p. acnes bacteria that causes breakouts and helps to clear any present breakouts. It minimizes the risk of future breakouts and is an aid in prevention. It also helps build collagen, which reduces the appearance of acne scars and leaves the skin glowing and radiant.

  • The laser's energy penetrates deep into the skin to break up melanin deposits while simultaneously shutting down vasculature and inflammation. We recommend combining this treatment with a chemical peel to speed up cellular turnover and accelerate the improvement process. Unfortunately, Melasma is challenging to treat, and several treatments may be needed with ongoing maintenance necessary.

  • The laser's energy penetrates deep into the skin, suppressing inflammation and minimizes redness. It also coagulates the unwanted veins and broken capillaries, gradually cleared by the body's natural immune response—the result: clear skin and drastically reduced redness. Rosacea is a chronic disorder that will require continuous management.

  • Pseudofolliculitis Barbae is SO common (ingrown hairs, razor bumps, beard bumps, and constant skin irritation commonly caused by shaving. It often appears in darker skin tones. The laser selectively targets the melanin in the underlying hair and follicle and hyperpigmentation surrounding the lesion. Because of the laser's unique short pulse duration, the energy passes through the skin quickly. Therefore, it does not overheat the epidermal melanin, effectively treating the underlying problem. Expect clear skin and tremendous improvement.

  • The laser is attracted to melanin, hemoglobin, and water. Why is this important? The laser's energy targets water in the dermis to stimulate collagen production, which reduces fine lines and pores and tightens skin. Then, if present, the laser targets melanin and hemoglobin to clear brown spots and vascular lesions, suppressing inflammation. The end result is tight and clear skin, leaving you with a rejuvenated appearance.

  • There is no downtime.

  • Treatment time will vary from 20 minutes to 60 minutes.

  • There is a mild sensation of heat, but you will not feel pain. Sometimes you may feel a slight pinching, but it is brief and tolerable.

  • Individual results will vary. While some may see results in just one treatment, others may need multiple treatments.

  • When treating Melasma, sometimes pigment will appear darker before it gets lighter. Scabbing and flaking can occur. Do not pick, pull, or cut the skin. Keep the treatment area moisturized and well-hydrated. When treating rosacea, you may experience some erythema or purpura, but it will resolve in a few days. Redness and vasculature may not immediately disappear and may take several months to improve and clear. Being patient when treating acne is essential, as it can worsen before it gets better.

  • You can put makeup on after. Just remember to moisturize and wear SPF. We love the ToneSmart by Skin Better as it covers like foundation and protects your skin. Shop our favorite SPF here.

  • No, we cannot perform this treatment while you are pregnant. If you are nursing and want to start treatment, we ask you to consult your physician before booking.

  • Yes, we intentionally sought this laser out because it allows us to treat all patients regardless of the color of their skin.

  • Improvement can be seen immediately in some cases. Still, it may take several sessions in others, or it may take just a few. So, it depends on the severity of what we are treating and the indications we are treating.
